Here are some thoughts about todays LJ reading, Numbers 32,33 & Mark 10.
-The Reubenites and Gaddites recognized that "the LORD defeated (their enemies) before the congregation of Israel".
-Moses hadn't forgotten that 10 of the original spies had "discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, so that they did not go into the land which the LORD had give them." (Num 32:9)
-Moses also remembered that Joshua and Caleb had "wholly followed the LORD". (Num 32:12)
-The Reubenites and Gaddites wanted an exception for themselves in the way the land would be divided, but not at the expense of their fellow Israelites. (Num 32:18)
-Your sin WILL find you out! (Num 32:23)
-The Israelites went a lot of places on their journey to the Promise Land (Num 33)
-God was very specific about the consequences of not completely eliminating the ungodly influences in the land... "But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it shall be that those whom you let remain shall be irritants in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and they shall harass you in the land where you dwell." (Num 33:55)
